the old-time midway and carnival sideshow.
Of course, like most such manuscripts, some of these descriptions work well and still play well
to an audience, and some are inaccurate and will only result in injury … use your judgment!

My (cloudy) memory says that this was bought in the early 1970s from Dr. Doom - One buyer researched it and found that it originally appeared as "Miraculous Hindu Feats" by a Joseph Ovette published in 1947. It was also reprinted in Snake Oil by Jim Rose, where Rose says it comes from a book called "Feats Of Torture" by Ovette.
